The 2024 World Laser Industry Conference opens in Jinan! 10 projects signed with a total investment of over 2 billion yuan
On March 20, the 2024 World Laser Industry Conference opened at the Shandong International Convention and Exhibition Center. During the conference, four institutions, including the "Qilu Optics Valley" Industrial Incubation Center, International Exchange Center, Industrial Innovation Center, and Industrial Exhibition Service Center, were officially established. The conference facilitated the signing of 10 projects with an estimated total investment of over 2 billion yuan.

The conference was guided by the China Chamber of International Commerce, hosted by the China Optics and Optoelectronics Industry Association, co-hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shandong Provincial Committee, Shandong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Shandong Laser Equipment Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community, and other units, and organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Jinan Branch and the Management Committee of the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Jinan Area. With the theme of "Encountering Jinan with Laser, Linking the Future with Light," the conference built a high-level opening-up platform around the four main lines of "investment, trade, cooperation, and service."
At the scene, the development of Jinan's laser industry was announced. It is reported that in recent years, Jinan has always regarded the development of the laser industry as an important part of building a modern industrial system, striving to create a "laser industry cluster area, laser achievement transformation site, birthplace of famous laser enterprises, and new highland of laser cooperation," significantly enhancing the industry's influence and competitiveness. Currently, Jinan's foundational advantages in developing the laser industry are more solid, and the industrial chain is more complete. China's first laser cutting machine and the world's first 25,000-watt ultra-high-power laser cutting machine were both born in Jinan. Currently, the city has over 300 laser enterprises, more than 20 core enterprises above a designated scale in the laser equipment industry chain, and an industrial scale exceeding 20 billion yuan. The export scale of laser equipment products, mainly laser cutting, ranks first in the country. Jinan has become the largest laser equipment industry base in northern China and an important one in the country. Jinan is accelerating the construction of Qilu Optics Valley and a number of laser professional parks to create carrier platforms for industrial agglomeration and development.
The innovative vitality of Jinan's laser industry development is more surging, continuously improving the collaborative innovation mechanism of "platform empowerment + enterprise agglomeration + application-driven." Institutions such as the State Key Laboratory of Crystal Materials of Shandong University and other universities, research institutes, and R&D institutions, together with key enterprises, have implemented a number of major industrial innovation projects, continuously achieving new breakthroughs in key areas such as basic materials, core components, and supporting software. Laser chips and other products have achieved mass production; Bond Laser's cutting machine sales have ranked first globally for four consecutive years; Senfeng Laser's continuous fiber laser has achieved industrial application; Jinwei Laser's intelligent equipment product technology performance has reached the international advanced level.

At the conference site, about 500 authoritative academicians and experts in the field of lasers, representatives of international industry research institutions and business associations, and responsible persons of well-known domestic and foreign enterprises gathered to seek cooperation and promote development.
Responsible persons from Changchun University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen Technology University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Suzhou High-Strength Laser Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Research Institute, Shandong Huaguang Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., and other research institutes and enterprises delivered keynote speeches on the development of the laser industry and engaged in intellectual collisions.

The conference facilitated the signing of 10 projects in fields related to laser crystal materials, laser medical, phased array radar, drones, etc., with an estimated total investment of over 2 billion yuan.
For example, Jinan Jinggu Research Institute signed the Shandong Headquarters Project of Laser Crystal Materials, which will be implemented in the pilot platform of Jinan Jinggu Research Institute. "The signed project is a laser crystal material R&D and production project, which will invest in the research and production of functional crystals, mainly used in drones, radar, optics, and other fields," said Wu Kai, Investment Promotion Director of Jinan Jinggu Research Institute.
During the conference, the Jinan Laser Equipment Export Alliance was established, with over 30 core member enterprises. Adhering to the principle of "joining forces, expanding markets, and mutual benefits," the alliance provides platform support for further expanding the export scale of Jinan laser equipment and enhancing the international influence of China's laser equipment brands. The concurrently held World Laser Industry Exhibition covered an exhibition area of approximately 20,000 square meters, with over 200 domestic and foreign laser enterprises participating.
